JACKSON, MISSOURI — The Jackson and Cape Girardeau communities are mourning the loss of Terry Lynn Jones, a respected healthcare leader, devoted husband, and man of unwavering faith, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 61. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, Terry leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and dedication that touched countless lives throughout southeastern Missouri.
Born on April 16, 1965, in Kennett, Missouri, Terry was the son of the late Junior L. Jones and Cleta Akers Jones. Throughout his life, his Christian faith remained the foundation of his character, guiding him with strength, humility, and compassion through every season of life. Those who knew Terry admired his gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
For more than 30 years, Terry faithfully served Mercy Healthcare Systems in Cape Girardeau, where he built a distinguished career and eventually became Director of Patient Access. In that role, he earned the respect of colleagues and healthcare professionals alike through his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to ensuring patients received compassionate and efficient care. His contributions helped shape the patient experience and left a lasting impact on the organization and the community it serves.
Outside the workplace, Terry was known for his remarkable creativity and artistic eye. He found joy in decorating, designing beautiful floral arrangements, and making holidays and celebrations special for family and friends. His ability to transform ordinary moments into cherished memories reflected the warmth and generosity that defined his life.
On September 23, 2017, Terry married his beloved husband, Douglas Turner, in Cape Girardeau. Their marriage was built on love, trust, and unwavering support, and together they created a life filled with happiness and shared experiences. Terry treasured his family above all else and was deeply grateful for the relationships that enriched his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Danny Lee Jones of Sullivan, Indiana. He is survived by his devoted husband, Douglas Turner; brothers-in-law David and Marilyn Turner, Dennis and Regina Turner; along with many extended family members, close friends, coworkers, and all whose lives were blessed by his kindness and friendship.
A Celebration of Life honoring Terry will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Missouri, with Joe Rowley officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In keeping with Terry’s caring nature, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Missouri in lieu of flowers.
Terry Lynn Jones will be remembered for his steadfast faith, compassionate leadership, creative spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him.
